Our club- facilities and overview

Hello and thanks for checking out our blog!  As stated in the blog description, our club has been running for more than 25 years.  For a long period, we also ran the annual 'To The Redoubt' wargames show in the Eastbourne Redoubt Fortress.

Our clubhouse comprises a single room that is leased on a full-time basis on an industrial estate.  The room is spacious and gives us excess space to use the multiple gaming boards (more on these later!) as well as storage for models, scenery, refreshments, and other paraphernalia that we have accrued over the years.  The fact that we have the room on a full-time basis, as opposed to renting a hall/room on a nightly basis, gives us something of an advantage over many other wargaming groups in that we are not constrained to pack up and leave each club night.  We are regularly able to leave games up for multiple sessions, making it easier to run campaigns or recreate very large battles indeed!
In terms of gaming, we're predominantly a club that plays historical games, as opposed to science fiction or fantasy.  This is not a rule, however, and certainly we have played non-historical games.  There is no specific emphasis on particular time periods; we play Ancients to Moderns, and most periods in between!

The facilities that we provide are of good quality- boards specifically crafted for us are run on casters and so can be joined together for larger games, or divided for several games to be played at once.  All necessary wargaming essentials are also provided- dice, tape measures, seating (provided free), tea/coffee and a refrigerator of other refreshments (for purchase!).
Last, and not to mention least, the club provides that most essential thing for a good wargaming experience: a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  We're happy to welcome anyone with either a great knowledge, or a new interest, of our magnificent hobby.  So, if you reside around the Eastbourne area, and want to take a look for yourself, then please see the footer at the bottom of the blog for details on how to contact us.  Your first night is free, so you have nothing to lose!
